Tiny Quilt Wins Local Art Competition
Here is a photo of my tiny quilt which won first prize in an Art Competition at South Square Centre and Thornton Village. The competition was sponsored by E-ON (the local wind farm) and the brief was for a piece of art work of any medium on the theme of wind power. There were 53 entries of varying media from artists aged 1 to 91; anyone living or working in Thornton Village was eligible to enter.
The competition involved the whole village and several shops displayed entries and there was a map of the village to show everyone where all the entries were and there were prizes for the ‘’people’s favourite’’.
The quilt measures 2¾” square and is mounted on a 5” square of map at the location of the wind farm.
The presentation was in the local church hall and I knew I was a prize winner, but didn’t know it was the FIRST PRIZE until after the second prize had been announced. And the prize – well that’s going to be another story – it was a trip in a hot air balloon!!!!
